Getting to Hotels From the Airport

AIRPORT CODES

  HOU = Houston Hobby
  IAH = George Bush Intercontinental (in Rice lingo, "Intergalactic")

BY AIRPORT EXPRESS

  Note that not all hotels are served by the Airport Express.  The
  workshop hotel (StudioPLUS in the Medical Center) is not officially
  served by Airport Express, but the Holiday Inn across the street is,
  so you can easily use this service to get to your hotel.  (Note:
  this is a little side street, not a major thoroughfare, so crossing
  it should not be a problem.)  You need to ask for the Holiday
  Inn-Astrodome.

  The number for the Airport Express service is +1 713-523-8888.  The
  details below may be out-of-date -- please call and check if it
  matters (eg, if you are arriving very early or late).

  Ticket price and trip length:
    $12 from HOU, thirty minutes
    $17 from IAH, one hour

  Available for HOU 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
  Available for IAH 7:00 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

  1. Go to the baggage claim area.
  2. Go to the Ground Transportation Counter to buy your ticket to
     your hotel. 
  3. The Ground Transportation Counter clerk will tell you where to
     wait for the Airport Express shuttle.
  4. The shuttle will take you to your hotel.

BY TAXI

  Approximate costs:
    $30 from HOU
    $50 from IAH

  1. Go to the baggage claim area.
  2. Go outside the door marked Taxi/Ground Transportation.
  3. A taxi will be waiting.
  4. Give the taxi driver the address of your hotel.

BY RENTAL CAR

  1. Go to the baggage claim area.
  2. Depending on which rental company you are using, go to the
     respective car rental counter or to the Rental Car Phone Bank.
  3. If there is no counter for your company at the airport, call the
     company and the clerk will tell you where to wait for the shuttle
     that will take you to the rental car company. The shuttles are free
     of charge.
  4. Obtain a map from the car rental clerk.
