Abstract
Fault-tolerance in component-based systems
Component-based systems offer new opportunities for fault-tolerance. In this talk Arora will introduce the notion of fault-tolerance components, and examine
design methods for scalable, low-cost fault-tolerance in component-based systems. Throughout the talk, he will illustrate the methods in the context of distributed system and network services.
About Anish Arora
Anish Arora is Associate Professor of Computer Science at the
Ohio State University, Columbus, where he leads a research group
on dependable systems. Arora works on principles of dependability
properties such as fault-tolerance, security and timeliness,
develops design, formal verification, and implementation methods,
and builds prototypes of distributed and network systems.
Presently, he is serving as program chair of the Year 2000
Dagstuhl on Self-Stabilizing Systems and as program committee
member of ICNP'00, SRDS'00, FTRTFTS'00 and PODC'00,
while visiting Microsoft Research on sabbatical.
