This talk will introduce the basic concepts of Cellular Automata (CA) from the book entitled "Additive Cellular Automata Theory and Applications Vol. 1" authored by the speaker and his research students, published by IEEE Computer Society Press, USA in 1997 (ISBN 0-8186-7717-1).
The speaker has subsequently extended his research in cellular automata using the theory of Extension Fields. This has led the development of the theory of hierarchical cellular automata and its applications in diverse fields -Pattern Classification, Pattern Recognition, Data Encryption, Data Compression, and VLSI Testing.
Tuesday, April 17 at 4pm in DH 1070
A reception will be held BEFORE the talk at 3:30pm in DH 3092.
