Phi Beta Kappa inducts three CS seniors

April 26, 2001 -- Computer science seniors Kai-How "Kyle" Farh, James Sasitorn and Brian Richard Stoler are among 72 Rice undergraduates invited this spring to join the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the oldest and most respected undergraduate honors organization in the United States.

The Rice University chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, Beta of Texas, was founded in 1929. The chapter may invite up to 10 percent of Rice seniors for membership in Phi Beta Kappa. Candidacy is based on the national Phi Beta Kappa guidelines, as implemented for the Rice University campus.

Phi Beta Kappa was established in 1776 at the College of William and Mary. Phi Beta Kappa's goal is to further ongoing learning in the letters, arts and sciences. New members are initiated in recognition of extraordinary academic achievement in the liberal arts and sciences.

The induction ceremony is scheduled for 2:30pm on May 11 in Hamman Hall.
