Thank you for your interest in computer science at Rice University. The Department of Computer Science is part of the George R. Brown School of Engineering's computational focus, along with Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computational and Applied Mathematics, and Statistics. Computing is an elemental part of engineering today, and faculty in computer science often collaborate with researchers in these and Rice's more traditional engineering departments: Bioengineering, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, and Nanoengineering. In education, our focus is producing graduates who can think creatively to solve tough problems and who are prepared for life-long learning, which rapidly changing technology demands.
Graduate admissions are handled by the Department of Computer Science. Prospective graduate students are encouraged to learn more about
