Rice Computer Science Department graduates fill leadership positions in universities, corporations, and research institutions worldwide. Alumni can access the latest departmental news and announcements via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the department's blog. Additionally, alumni can stay connected with current and former students, as well as faculty and staff members, by becoming members of the Rice Computer Science LinkedIn group.
Rice Computer Science Department graduates are also encouraged to join other Rice alumni groups, particularly the Rice Engineering Alumni (REA) and the Association of Rice Alumni (ARA). The REA, which was formed in 1938 and is the oldest alumni organization at Rice, is dedicated to providing support to the George R. Brown School of Engineering. The REA supports students through scholarship and grant programs, encourages excellence by recognizing outstanding achievements, and facilitates interactions among alumni, students, faculty and staff by hosting events in a variety of US locations. The ARA provides opportunities to stay involved through volunteer opportunities such as serving on a committee or by joining a special interest group, attending seminars, or traveling with groups of fellow owls.
Finally, supporting Rice, particularly the Department of Computer Science, is a way to complete the cycle of opportunity that began with your education at Rice. Discretionary funds donated to the Computer Science Department by alumni and corporations allow the Computer Science Department to respond to unexpected research and educational opportunities that arise. You can donate to the Computer Science Endowment (established by Moshe Y. Vardi and his wife, Pam Geyer, in 2000), which specifically supports the Computer Science Department, by completing a donation form, selecting the designation "Other (please specify in special instructions)" on the form, and entering "Computer Science Endowment" in the "Special Instructions" text box.
