I successfully defended my thesis in May 2012. I have joined Qualcomm as a Senior Engineer on the ARM compiler team. I’m working on compiler optimizations to showcase the benefits of Qualcomm’s snapdragon mobile processor.
I was a PhD student in the CS department at Rice University. I was advised by Keith Cooper and worked closely with many members of the Habanero team, lead by Vivek Sarkar. My research interests include compilers, runtimes, and programming models for functional programming languages running on modern multi-core computers. My PhD reasearch involved trace-based optimizations for the lazy functional programming language Haskell.

You need the willingness to fail all the time. You have to generate many ideas and then you have to work very hard only to discover that they don't work. And you keep doing that over and over until you find one that does work.
