I am a PhD student in the CS department at Rice University. I am advised by Keith Cooper and work closely with many members of the Habanero team, lead by Vivek Sarkar. My research interests include compilers, runtimes, and programming models for functional programming languages running on modern multi-core computers. My current research involves trace-based optimizations for the lazy functional programming language Haskell.

You need the willingness to fail all the time. You have to generate many ideas and then you have to work very hard only to discover that they don't work. And you keep doing that over and over until you find one that does work.
