Each week, we hold a one-on-one debate on a political or philosophical issue. We use a unique style of debate, called "blackboard debate", that we've invented ourselves. It focuses much more on the logical structure of the arguments than on presentation style. Although our focus is on gaining insight into the topics debated, this style also lends itself to a much more objective method for judging competitive debates.
If you're interested in listening to these debates, discussing the issues afterwards, or (hopefully) participating in some of them yourself, come and join us on Fridays from 4pm-5pm in DH 1042. All are welcome.
