Juan Navarro
Background
I got a BA degree in Engineering back in 1987, from Universidad
Católica
de Chile. Then I worked for far too many years in the software industry,
until I decided to have some real fun and went back to school for a master's
degree, which I got in 1996 from the Computer
Science Department of Universidad Católica
de Chile. During my master I spent a semester as an exchange student
at University of California, San Diego.
Then I worked two years at Universidad Católica
de Chile as a researcher and lecturer, and finally came to Rice for a
PhD, while still affiliated to Universidad Católica.
Research
My research interests comprise operating systems, high-performance
computing, and parallel and distributed systems.
I am currently working on a project called Mitosis,
whose goal is to improve performance and scalability of virtual memory
systems.
