I used to be a graduate student at Rice University. I graduated in 1998 (here is proof), and am now a research staff member at IBM Research. I work in the IBM Austin Research Lab's newly formed Low-Power Computing Research Center (read the IBM press release). My current interests are in the fields of energy conservation for servers, operating systems, and networking. My dissertation work was on a new approach to performance tuning: prescriptive performance debugging. Alan Cox was my thesis advisor.
I have an undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras at Chennai. From August 1996 until January 1998, I was supported by an IBM cooperative fellowship.
If you are interested in Low-Power Design, be sure to check out ACCEED 2002, the Conference on Energy-Efficient Design sponspored by IBM Research, to be held Feb 25-27, 2002 in Austin, TX.
