Heather Ferreyra is the new Publicist and Marketing Specialist for Rice University's Computer Science Department. Over the course of her career, she's worked on marketing and writing for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Guideposts Magazine, the Film Society of Lincoln Center and Continental Airlines Magazine.
After completing her master's degree in writing at Emerson College, she taught English in Turkey and worked in publishing in New York City. She's lived in Boston, Istanbul, Los Angeles, New York and Austin, but she grew up in Houston and considers it home.
Prior to coming to Rice, she oversaw communications for the IT Department at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). She's also worked in marketing communications at Loyola Marymount University, Cambridge University Press and Houghton Mifflin's College Division.
In addition to her work in marketing, she's currently a judge for the Webby Awards, the leading international award for the year's best work on the internet.
