In recognition of Ken Kennedy's contributions to Rice University, the board of trustees has conferred the highest institutional academic title of 'university professor' to Ken Kennedy, the Ann and John Doerr Professor of Computational Engineering.
In an April 18, 2002 issue, Rice News featured Kennedy and chemistry professor Richard Smalley, who also received this distinguished title this year. Neal Lane of the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy is the only other faculty member to achieve this rank.
The Association of Rice Alumni has also recognized Kennedy recently for his contributions to Rice by honoring him with the 2002 Distinguished Alumnus Award.
